Always remember to Double Down

We are more than familiar with the workings of Las Vegas, and when a good opportunity comes along we always roll the dice and bet big.
Since we know you can always use some more sound in your life, we’re stoked to be dropping the Double Down promotion. Basically, you buy a STEALTH earbud, DIVISION headphone, or an ELEVEN DJ headphone where ever you like, email us a copy of the receipt to doubledown@siegeaudio.com, and we’ll send you out a free pair of our new CODEC earbuds.
Oh, and don’t forget to forward to your friends – Everyone likes a bearer of good news. Get dealt in now. (we won’t even ask for your ID!)

Girl Talk – Summer Twilight Concert Series

The Salt Lake City Arts Council has been holding the “Twilight Concert Series” for years now. It started with just some local bands doing free shows on Thursday nights in the park and it has now evolved into a huge deal. Every year the lineup or artists gets better and better and the crowds get larger and larger. Last week was the kickoff with Modest Mouse and a record 45,000 people showed up to get their music on. This week the fine city of Salt Lake brought out the one and only Girl Talk. I have been a fan of the DJ / Mashup artist for a good while and it was insane to see the live show
If you haven’t heard about a live Girl Talk show I would recommend checking one out. A lot of raving. A lot of crowdsurfing. A lot of music. If you haven’t checked out Girl Talk yet, check out the write up on our music blog.

Tasty Cuts Tuesdays – Depressed Buttons / The Faint
The other week we met up with our friend Jacob for some mole, salsa, and good times at the bomb mexican food spot here in Salt Lake. Beyond being a rad dude, a mole poblano enthusiast, the proud owner of a new Red Iguana coffee mug, Jacob is also the keyboard player for the Depressed Buttons and the Faint.
The Faint has been killing it for a hot while now – you might remember “Glass Dance,” “Worked Up so Sexual,” and “Symptom Finger” (below) Depressed Buttons are relatively fresh but they are already making waves. Keep an ear out for the remixes they have dropping this summer. They are out of control.

Completely Frank.
Frank 151 is at the center of it all – They drop a book 4 times a year, run an extensive website with the freshest editorial, sell their own goods, run “Frank’s Chop Shop” – an exclusive barbershop in New York’s Lower East Side, and have deeper connections and ties than most Mafia families. With all that said, obviously we are really stoked to be working with these dudes. Our banners went up on their site yesterday so when you get a spare sec, check em out and browse around the site. You won’t be bummed.
Like I said – deep connections. Rick Thorne (who also happens to be down with SIEGE)

The Trip that is, Z-Trip.
Watching a DJ do their thing can be pretty intense. You never really know how much work it is until you watch em up close and see how technical what they do really is. I have caught a couple shows of DJ Z Trip’s and I never cease to be amazed. There is definitely a reason he is called “The God-Father of Mashups” (besides the fact he basically invented the genre)
Z Trip has done everything from the Jimmy Kimmel show to DJ Hero and his current residency at the RAIN in Las Vegas. One of my favorites, however, is this little clip – All done on straight vinyl. No Serato or computers telling him what to do here.

Tasty Cuts Tuesdays – A Trak "Dirty South Dance 2"
After much anticipation, The Sequel. DJ A Trak is definitely one of my favorites. The Dirty South Dance 2 just dropped and it’s already working its way to the top of the “Most Played” list in my iTunes.
For the the uberfans, in about three weeks A Trak is dropping a collector pack with OBEY with a poster, tee and CD. I’m sure eBay will be buzzing.
Get the download from Bandcamp and check out A-Trak’s site when you get a chance.
